The “Online Branding” Rat Race

How to avoid “The ‘Online Branding’ Rat Race”

Your business should have branding, your brand is your icon, logo or image.

I understand some will call your “brand” your reputation also, and I agree to a point.  However we should not confuse our marketing efforts for branding efforts.

When Pepsi puts out an add with the icon that everyone recognizes you see this as marketing, well it’s focus is a “branding” campaign, and they have multi-million dollar budgets for this and it’s built into their model.

When we market online as a small business owner or self-employed professional our focus doesn’t need to be on the “branding” of our business name online, it needs to be on acquiring new customers.  Period.

This is a topic covered in my new book about how to market your business with a blog, coming soon.
